Music Therapy Network was founded in January 2008, in Los Angeles California by Chikako Horii. Chikako came to America from Japan after being a lead singer in a successful all-girls rock band, called TWIGGY. TWIGGY released 5 albums from a major label (currently Universal Music Group). Chikako also earned a degree in Communications, Music Therapy, and board certificate in 2005.
Her passion for music is strong enough to continue performing as a musician with her current band, Radical Blood Orange. She is also a full time music therapist who demonstrates how music can help people’s lives. In her spare time, Chikako creates awareness in her community about the benefits of music therapy all over the world.
Her experiences in music industry/entertainment, communications, and music therapy let her to create the Music therapy Network, a global network of people in the field of music therapy share their experiences. The goal of Music Therapy Network is to provide social network and media platform to connect all of the people who value and appreciate music and the power of music.
